Delivering IMPACT
from KNOWLEDGE

Paddie Murphy (PLMCS) and I worked together for a year to set up the West Midlands Health Technologies Cluster. I soon picked up that Paddie had done an amazing amount of research and preparation for this set-up stage and I grew to rely on the knowledge and contacts that Paddie had already developed. Paddie has been a fount of knowledge and a source of trusted advice throughout the setting up of the cluster. We have become a highly effective team and we have carried through to the implementation stage what is now a very strong and effective working partnership. We are making a success of the cluster and Paddie continues to be a driving force as our Relationships Manager.

Paddie was engaged by Birmingham Science City (now Innovation Alliance for the West Midlands) for almost two years, to represent the health partners of the WM from the earliest stages of development of the EIT Health KIC to the award to the consortium of which we were part, and through to set-up of the KIC. Paddie engaged throughout with enthusiasm, tenacity and professionalism, building the trust and confidence of local and European partners and bringing to bear her expertise in the health and life sciences field. Paddie was undoubtedly a key factor in the success of this complex and ambitious bid and secured a prominent role in the KIC for our WM partners within the winning consortium.

I have no hesitation in recommending Paddie and PLMCS. Paddie not only has the enviable ability to develop strategy but also to action it; she has the knowledge and insight to be able to develop appropriate and timely interventions and she can see projects through from their high level inception right through to delivery. Paddie has produced a number of very high quality pieces of work for me that have become fundamental building blocks in supporting the sector.

Paddie Murphy (PLMCS) was both instrumental in the formation of the organisation of which I am the Commercial Director namely the West Midlands Academic Health Science Network and also in the creation and continuing development of the Health EIT (KIC) West Midlands. In working with Paddie I have found her to be highly professional and one of a very small number of people in the UK who fully understands the initial developmental and then continuing support needs of academia, business and the NHS. Paddie is a great communicator and networker and her abilities to broker relationships and to deliver programmes on time and to budget, is key in the continued joint working between my organisation and PLMCS.

Paddie came highly recommended by colleagues at Warwick Medical School and did not disappoint. We've worked together on two, multi-million pound, multi-institution research proposals now and her support with drafting sections of the proposal, organising and incorporating inputs from partners and reviewing and editing text to ensure it fits the funders' requirements has been extremely valuable. She is experienced, knowledgeable, easy to work with and willing to pull the stops out to get things done - I'm happy to recommend her to anyone looking for bid writing support.

Over the past 10 years I have worked with knowledge transfer experts in five separate universities. Paddie provides by far the most effective support in the KT arena, she is one of the few who truly understands the interface between academic and commercial organisations.

Paddie has supported the West Midlands Academic Health Science Network (WMAHSN) with a number of projects and activities including helping to develop our work around patient participation and supporting the European Institute of Innovation and Health Accelerator. She brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge that has been invaluable in helping us to shape and drive projects forward. She has a very open and transparent way of working providing access to her own networks to make valuable connections across her portfolio to identify opportunities and drive collaboration. Her infectious enthusiasm and friendly approach makes her a pleasure to work with and she has the ability to inject fun and creativity into even some of the most complex projects, bringing groups together to work towards a common goal.
